BLOGIVERSARY

Finally. All these sleepless nights seem completely worth it now! Whilst you can read more about why Christine and I have decided to relaunch as KARINA in our about section, I wanted to take this chance to take you through a photographic journey of a lot of our past shoots and little projects. We had our first ever shoot together on the 10 February 2007 (that photo was a little too embarrassing to publish to the world!) but our friendship goes back many, many years. Our parents were friends before we were born so, in fact, I have known Christine all my life. It is so wonderful when we take photos together or when we are simply hanging out like two ordinary gals, because often we need very little communication to understand each other. So, without further ado, continue below to check out our photos - each of which has a little description to go with it. Enjoy, and welcome to our new project.

We have also made an entirely new facebook page which you can access here.

Nov 2013
This is from our Grace Kelly shoot. We were trying to re-create this image here.

Oct 2013
This was taken when Christine first came to visit me here in Brussels. It was Sunday morning and the sun was shining brightly down onto my balcony so we decided to shoot in direct sunlight...

Oct 2013
...and against the sunlight to produce two series of images with two completely different moods.

April 2013
I have only gotten to know Kristiana better over the past year and I am so happy that I have. Words cannot describe how lovely she is. During my first year of university, I became somewhat disenchanted with blogging. I found it very hard to find the time and, sometimes, the point of posting. But during my second year, she happened to start university at the same place as me and we got into somewhat of a routine of regularly meeting up. It is safe to say that we became friends through blogging but now it seems so much more than just that.

June 2012
Here, we decided to experiment with a darker lip. Whilst we are really happy with this image above, it was not until I started to move around that we were truly happy with the outcome.

June 2012
We did not plan on taking photos in which it looked like I was falling but we managed to capture this shot where my body movements seem so fragile and delicate.

June 2012
This is one of my all-time favourite images that Christine and I have shot.

December 2011
We had decided to go a little bit darker than what we usually did.

December 2011
And it was with the help of Fanny Maurer, who did make up for us

July 2011
A couple of the photos from these series appeared in an online magazine, HUSH.

July 2011
The concept for this shoot was to use bright colours with the make up. For this image we decided to go for a bright pink lip.

July 2011
Perhaps my favourite one from the series. We really do enjoy playing around and experimenting with make up sometimes! Strong and defined eyebrows are huge now thanks to the Delevigne's, but I doubt purple 'brows will be a 'thing' anytime soon.

April 2011
More photos in this post here.

April 2011
This was the first time the two of us experimented with backlighting and flares.

April 2011
... and we fell in love with it!

January 2011
This was the winter that snowed like crazy. We took full advantage of it, of course!

January 2011
By sprawling myself out and down the steps in Christine's garden, I was able to create more of an arched shape with my body without having to put in as much effort as I would have done if I was flat on my back.

January 2011
Sometimes it takes me 30mins to warm up, to be aware of my hands and face, and so we usually like to take test/warm up shots before venturing on to what we really want to shoot.

September 2010
We did try to play with backlight here but we did not get the same kind of flare as in a few photos up.

September 2010
This hat belonged to my Scottish grandmother, Mona, from when she was in the army during WWII.

September 2010
Christine was shortlisted in the Clothes Show Live Young Fashion Photographer of the year award with this photo. The brief was to combine music and fashion, and so we decided to take two big trends (lace & military) and combine it with me holding my grandmother's old radio.

August 2010
Because I wear contact lenses, Christine often has to edit them out in close up shots. Here you can still see them!

August 2010
I do most of the make up when we shoot together and even though I am not great at it, I was particularly proud of this look.

May 2010
We shot this against my bedroom wall, using a regular lamp.

May 2010
It was during this shoot that Christine and I fell in love with movement, especially hair movement.

August 2009
This was over two years after our first shoot. All our shoots prior to this was very experimental and are probably best kept in an unseen part of the interwebs.
