BIG FAT THANK YOU

It has been a busy week for KARINA! Whilst I had been preparing for the last two weeks of my traineeship at in Brussels, Christine had been mentally preparing herself for her new job. She had been looking for one for a while so I’m super happy that she has finally secured one. I was also preparing to go to the Company Style Blogger Awards in London and even though we didn’t win (congrats to Shope and Shore!) I want to take this time to say a little thank you.

Thank you to my friends who still keep in touch with me even though it seems like I spend countless hours behind my laptop, engorged in social media and emails, with little social time left. I have spent so many weekend travelling back to Luxembourg to shoot for the blog which I absolutely love doing but sometimes I do think I could have made a little more effort to head back to London and see friends. Especially the two gals I went to Japan with. I do love you both.

A huge thank you to my dad who drives me to and from Arlon station in Belgium so that I can pay a cheaper train fare which makes travelling between Brussels and Luxembourg a lot more affordable. Thank you to my mama who makes me little bento boxes for the journey back and who watches Disney movies with me. Thank you to Kristiana and Claude – without you two I would absolutely lose my mind with all this blogging and ridiculous amounts of time spent on the internet/social media haha. And a major thank you to Christine who deals with my sassiness and boss bitch attitude. I don’t thank you enough. You bring me sheer joy and so much colour into my life. You are my Andre and Golden Bean is our Red Lobster.

And last but not least, thank you to all of you out there. May you be few or many, I love reading your comments. I recently received a comment from a girl who is studying French at university and said that having the French translation directly below has helped her. It makes me so all gooey and warm inside when I read comments like that. Thank you for voting for us and getting us to the shortlist for the Company Style Blogger Awards!

Big fat kisses from Brussels

********************************

SUNNY SUNDAY OUTFIT

Last weekend was so incredibly warm that for the #Blogger_lu closet sale I had no choice but to wear a loose fitting playsuit. Christine and I met up beforehand to have a frappe at Golden Bean - it has become a kind of tradition now haha - and we also decided to snap a few shots of my outfit on the Place Guillaume. You may be getting a little sick of seeing these raggedy old trainers but I really have been wearing these so much. I wear them everyday to go to work and so they are so worn out now but I absolutely love the shape of the shoe and the velcro. It is so 90s but laces are just such a faff sometimes when I am rushing in the morning. I unfortunately cannot seem to find any decent looking velcro shoes!

#BLOGGER_LU CLOSET SALE

On Sunday, us Luxembourg blogger gals our first ever closet sale. It was so lovely to see some familiar faces and to see knew ones! I have to say that as soon as I arrived I noticed immediately just how unprepared I was! Even Kristiana who had flown in from England earlier that week had price-labelled all her items. I had not even brought along a clothes rack for hanging thing - whoops! A couple of us brought some goodies and noms, like my green tea cake (for which I have been thinking of sharing the recipe) or Jennifer's healthy brownies.

I managed to sell a couple of items which is a lot more than the 0 I had anticipated on selling - I definitely to work on my sales/conversational skills haha. I think we are going to organise another one in September just before school starts so hopefully we will have even more people show up!

LOVING LUXEMBOURG - PETRUSSE VALLEY

Before Christine and I went for our usual frappes at Golden Bean we decided to head on over to the edge of Luxembourg City which looks over the Petrusse Valley. I seem to fall in love with Luxembourg even more with every weekend trip I take back to the little country in the heart of Europe. Perhaps this incredibly amazing and hot weather has had something to do with it! It was way too warm to be wearing jeans that day and so I had to go for these loose fitting shorts for Primark. Printed shorts like these ones are definitely on my list of staples for this summer. I love how it looks with the white on white combo of my Topshop cami and H&M blazer. Christine absolutely loves pairing gold jewellery but I seem to lean towards silver. What do you guys prefer?

BEHIND THE KARINA LENS: OOTD BY CHRISTINE

With the Company Style Blog Awards just around the corner, we thought it would be nice to show a little bit more of Christine on KARINA. As much as a I mention her, it's not often you actually get to see her on the blog and so here we have a "behind the lens" outfit post. This outfit was from when we went to have dinner at our favourite place at the corner of the Cinquantenaire park. We were snapping a few shots of my outfit before the sun dipped behind the gigantic arch when I sneakily grabbed the camera off her. She's wearing a top from Zara, jacket from H&M, leggings from ASOS petite and bag from La Moda UK. Ain't she beautimous?

She posts quite a few ootd pics on her Instagram so go check her out here.

AMY & IVY @ JUBELPARK

This past weekend was the first weekend ever which I had entirely to myself. I have always gone back to Luxembourg or been on a weekend trip to visit friends or had Christine crashing at my place in Brussels. She did come over, however, but it was on the Wednesday evening to have a little balcony BBQ the next day as I had a day off from work. I definitely need to have more of those before I move out and head back to the UK! Check out the photo of our mini BBQ party here.

I decided to take a day trip up to Antwerp on my own on the Saturday because I had been left to my own devices that weekend - Christine was visiting friends in England. It was so refreshing to be able to spend some time entirely to myself! I had never been to Antwerp before so I was naturally amazed by the beautiful central train station that they have... It was like a mini Grand Central and perhaps even more beautiful. Sorry NYC. On my way from the station to the main shopping street (I had to follow the crowd like a sheep because I had no idea where I was going haha) I popped into a store called The Sting and found this bomber jacket from Amy & Ivy.

It's a 100% viscose jacket and it is incredibly lightweight - so perfect for colder days which dip below 16-17°C or for those long summer nights. Or, for a dinner date with your best friend at your favourite restaurant like I did on Sunday with Christine! I had a super tasty pastrami bagel - check out our food here.

Wow what a meaty prelude to introduce a single blazer haha.

C’était formidable de me retrouver toute seule! Elle me rappelait la Grand Central Station à New York, version miniature. Haha, désolée, New York!

WHAT'S IN MY BAG - THE ESSENTIALS

Travelling in between Brussels and Luxembourg as well as shuffling around Luxembourg city to shoot content for the blog involves me carrying a significant amount of stuff with me. Below are the kind of things I carry with me on a regular basis. Yes, even the sunglasses because I am just being hopeful haha.I did not mean for this blog post to get so long so I have divided up the text between two detail shots of the items. Grab a cuppa tea and get yourself comfy for a lengthy read:
