DUBAI TRAVELS

summer outfit inspiration
Last month, I went to visit my friend Caley in Dubai (check out her Instagram full of photos worthy of envy here). It had been so long since I had seen her so it was great to finally get to spend a good/solid few days with her and see another side of the famous the Emirati bubble. The last time I was there I was much younger and on a family holiday, but this time around I got to see what it was like to be there as a young working adult.

On one of the days, we had been booked to do the desert dune bashing which I have to say was an interesting experience. While is well worth it for the views over the dunes, I am a terrible sufferer of motion sickness so I was more than relieved to reach the huge tent where we had a buffet feast with occasional performances on show. The whole experience included food, drinks, shisha and a henna tent, where I got a little patterned souvenir down my hand and arm.

The outing was booked through Tinggly, a site where you can book experience vouchers which you can redeem anywhere in the world and which are valid for up to 2 years - how awesome is that?! So if you know someone going off on holiday this summer, why not treat them to something?

I obviously felt like I had to wear something comfy for this day so I opted for this white crop top with a lace trim, my denim shorts and my trusty little backpack. I've been really obsessed with backpacks lately and I even found a STUNNING one in TK Maxx the other week. You can find so many treasures in that store. I can't wait to go back to England for graduation and take a sneaky trip there to stock up on home decor for my new apartment in Leuven!

Without further ado, below are a couple of extra travel details from my trip and, of course, the photos once you hit that cursor on "click to see more".

PS, do you guys prefer it when all the photos are inside the post like this or if they are all out and about? I can never decide between the two!

MARC JACOBS DAISY SORBET

I suppose it was the hand-luggage-traveller in me that was initially put off by this perfume. I hadn't even tried it and the bottle looked like it would take up unnecessary space in my zip lock bag that I would use for other liquids like contact lens solution and eye drops. However, when I went took my flight back from Dubai, I had a few spare moments in DXB to have sneaky look around the perfume section. I saw that Marc Jacobs had brought out a new daisy sorbet scent so I thought "Why the hell not? I love sorbet!" and after chit chatting with the sales assistant I decided to go for it. I've never been a fan of heavy perfume so this delicately fresh scent is perfect for my taste.

Notes:
Pink Grapefruit, Pear, Passion Fruit, Wisteria, Jasmine Petals, Violet Wood, Cedarwood, Sheer Musks.

I have never been able to settle down on one single perfume either but perhaps that's because it's in my name (Kaori in Japanese means fragrance). What are your favourite perfumes? Do have one that you stick to?

BLACK FOREVER21 HAT

kaorianne
Hello friends!

Kaori here and I have a couple of new purchases to show you. When I was in Dubai, I of course had to check out the mahoosive Dubai Mall. There were so many stores that I can go to here in Guildford and Luxembourg but I don't always go to London and so I decided that a couple of things from F21 wouldn't hurt. I first bought a pair of watermelon socks which I posted about on Instagram here but I went back to get this hat and gorgeous lace top. I can definitely see myself wearing these two pieces regularly throughout the summer. I'd usually shy away from hats like this for the summer but I think that the gold chain pulls the look towards a more S/S vibe. I was a little worried about bring back it back through long haul travel but I simply rested the hat on my lap for the short flight from Dubai to Qatar and then in a fairly empty overhead locker for the flight from Qatar to Brussels. What kind of summer staples will you be adding to your wardrobe? I've been trying to find my white shorts which I bought ages ago but I just can't seem to find them anywhere!

PAUL'S BOUTIQUE CROSS BODY BAG

Hi it's Kaori here,

It was so great to read all of your feedback on Christine's blog posts. One of the great things about working with your best friend is that she has your back. In this case, I really needed to concentrate on my final year dissertation and she took on the role of writing for a while. After several blog posts from her part and after producing a 10, 000 word piece of work in my corner, we were both quite exhausted (Christine was doing this alongside her 9-5 job).

With the winter months gone and the end of my bachelor's course in near sight, I feel a lot more at ease and ready to launch back into blogging again. How have you lot in full-time education or employment managed it? I found it quite easy last year when I was working in Brussels, I could leave work at work, but dissertations are such huge nasty pieces of work that I found it so difficult to not put my all into that and to not think about it 24h a day.

Anyway, enough of that. I'd love tell you about these shots that we took in front of beautiful façades of London's town houses. In order to (I seem to still be in dissertation mode) compliment the soft pink colour of the bag, Kate put together a posh pink look and we marched straight for these beautifully crisp and white houses. There are loads of different colours in this Nicole satchel style on www.paulsboutique.com but if you loved the Metallic look from this post, you should take a peek at this colour/style here.

This spring weather has definitely got me excited for wearing not just lighter colour but lighter clothing. In my excitement, I ended up bring only one coat back with my to England but I'm sure (I hope...) I'll be just fine in my blazers.

What have you lot got planned for the upcoming months aside from end of year exam stress? Have you got any exciting holiday destinations pencilled in your planners? Do let me know, I feel like it's been a while and I'm always lusting after new travel destinations!
