NEON PINK OUTFITS

Hi, it's Christine again!

We're back with another collection reveal for the Paul's Boutique HS15 campaign. I thought we'd start off with these three beautiful coral bags. For these two collections we thought it would be best to shoot somewhere that had quite a neutral background as the bags are so bright and should remain the focus of the photos (along with Kaori of course!). We decided on shooting at Marble Arch, another great London landmark and a beautiful white structure.

When we arrived on location that morning to shoot, a group of people had already gathered there for what appeared to be a protest. Luckily, they didn't get in the way of us using Marble Arch as a backdrop! As usual, Kate did an absolutely amazing job styling the looks that went along with each bag, adding a pop of pink/colour to complement the bags while keeping the rest of the look neutral.

We were also pretty lucky with the weather. The entire time we were shooting the sky was grey and gloomy. It looked like it would rain any second. We were all rather relieved when it didn't! Little did we know that later on in the day it would rain, but it all worked out pretty well as you can see here.

GOLDEN HOUR IN LONDON

Hello, Christine again! Today's the final blog post for the first launch of the Paul's Boutique HS15 collection. These next sets of images we shot on the last day of our 2 day shoot for this project.

Seeing as it was the last day things were a little hectic towards the end of the day. After the tiny downpour that occurred on this shoot with the neon look, we were losing both time and light for shooting. So we raced on the tube with all of our suitcases full of bags, clothes and gear to the Thames, where we had decided to shoot these last few bags.

The reason for choosing to shoot at this particular location was pretty simple, it's an iconic place in London and since the brand is also London based, it just seemed to make sense to shoot somewhere that was recognisable as London but not super touristy.

This first set of photos we decided to shoot with Kaori's back to the water so we could have a little bit of London in the background as well as take advantage of the way the light was falling on her at this particular moment.

This second set of photos we shot with Kaori facing towards the water and also in the place that I had been standing at to take the previous set of images. Here the sun was almost about to set, so we took advantage of that magical time known as "golden hour" to shoot this particular look and bag. "Golden hour" is a favourite time for both Kaori and I to shoot, we just love the way the light is so warm and falls so beautifully on the subject in the photo.

In this final set of photos we managed to catch the last little bit of light right before the sun set - lucky for us! This is one of my favourite looks, the dress that Kate chose just fits so beautifully with this gold clutch bag and that is why I love to work with her. Unfortunately, this clutch will now only be available in silver from the 3rd April onwards.

Thank you so much for all the wonderful feedback we've received on this project so far. See you all in the next blog post, where we'll be revealing some new bags for the second launch of the HS15 collection.

PAUL'S BOUTIQUE LAUNCH DAY

Hello, it's Christine again!

Thanks so much for the feedback on the last post. Today is the official launch date of the first of three Paul's Boutique HS15 collections which you can see here. To celebrate this we've decided to share another set of images with you all. These happen to be a personal favourite of mine, the light and airiness is something that isn't common within my photography work so it's nice to have experimented with it on such a big project.

We shot both sets of images on a very windy afternoon right outside the Shard. We felt that the reflective nature of the building would complement the all white looks that Kate had put together for this set of bags and add even more brightness.

I'm a sucker for movement within images and so the fact that it was windy was perfect - it added that little special touch with her hair and dress being blown about in the wind but without it being too much of a distraction or a hindrance.

For this second bag we decided to shoot against this white textured wall which was opposite the Shard. I felt like the lines on the wall and on the ground add some interest while not distracting you away from the main focus which is Kaori and the bag. It wasn't quite as windy here but we still managed to get that little element of movement when the wind blew in the right direction. We had to keep an eye on our portable changing tent to make sure it didn't blow away, though!

I've actually quite enjoyed my little venture into writing for the blog so far and I hope I'll be writing a little bit more in the future. It's been nice to branch out into something different from what I usually do here on the blog.

PAUL'S BOUTIQUE HS 2015

Hello, it's Christine here! We're so happy and excited to finally share with you ALL one of the biggest projects we've worked on during our time as KARINA. Sometime last year, the wonderful Paul's Boutique got in touch and asked us if we wanted to shoot their High Summer 2015 campaign. Of course both myself and Kaori jumped at the opportunity to work on such an amazing project with a brand that we love and have worked with before.

Paul's Boutique gave us a lot of creative freedom with the shoots for their bags and we were so grateful for that. We were going crazy with so many ideas and it seemed to make sense to us that with so many bags to shoot with matching outfits and so little time to organise everything that we add another person to our little team. This is when I got in touch with an amazing stylist - Kate Sutton. I had worked with her many times before when I was a photography student at University and she styles to perfection no matter what the brief is.

Now with our little team complete we could start to finalise all of our plans for the shoot that would take place over 2 days in London. We picked London mainly because Paul's Boutique is based in London as is our stylist (and her assistant) and Kaori wasn't far away from it either, so it just made sense to have that as our location. The day before the shoot I hopped on a plane from little old Luxembourg with all of my photography gear and a lot of butterflies.

Those 2 days in London were some of the most amazing and stressful days I've ever had but I wouldn't change it for the world. We'll be releasing our favourite photos from each shoot over the next few weeks to go along with the official launches of the collection.

Here is a preview of the first 3 bags from the first official launch which will be on the 20th March!

TRAVELS: GRANADA & ALHAMBRA

travel blogger belgium
About a month ago, I came back from an amazing 10 days of travelling around the Southern Spanish region of Andalusia and, boy, did I take a lot of photos. My DSLR and 85mm lens have been severely neglected ever since I started only taking my phone with my on holiday and since Christine took charge of shooting my outfits for the blog, and so it was great to finally get back into using them both as well as swapping lenses throughout the trip with my boyfriend. Hooray for both of us being Nikon people!

We flew out from Frankfurt Hahn and arrived in Malaga in the late morning, so we decided to head straight to the beach near the city centre where we napped, travellers' backpacks and all, for a good two hours.
(Train from Malaga Airport to Malaga centre: 1.80 EUR)

After a leisurely lunch on the beach we decided it was time to head on off to Granada - an hour/two hours away by bus which would cost you around 14 EUR one way. Upon arrival at the bus station, we came across a tour stand called Play Granada. Now, let me tell you, I am usually the kind of person who is a little sceptical about booking guided tours but a two-hour morning bike ride seemed like a brilliant idea. The fact that it was half-price at the stand convinced us too... and boy was it worth!!! The other person who had booked the same time slot as us was a no-show which meant that we had our guide to ourselves.

Bicycle tour
We started off by cycling off through the Albaicin, up to a location that looked over the Alhambra and beautiful backdrop that is Sierra Nevada. I also made a couple of four legged friends along the way. Our guide took us to a small gypsy market where we stocked up on delicious fruits and fresh veggies which we would use for dinner later that night. The Mirador de San Nicolas is definitely worth a climb to see both the Alhambra and Sierra Nevada, as well as a handful of street musicians and hand-crafters on the square.

Our guide took us back to the Play Granada HQ where we were told we could return at any point to buy a drink or use the free wifi if need be and where we were given suggestions for tapas bars and things to see. I cannot stress just how much we loved the cycling part of time in Granada! My boyfriend and I then hopped on a bus up to the Alhambra (which was not more than 2 EUR) and holy moly I think I went a little overboard on the architectural photography haha. In the evening we met up with with a friend who had been studying in Granada and he took us to Bar los Diamantes, one of the best tapas bars on the Plaza Nueva. It serves only seafood but it is oh-so-good with a cold beer.

Recap
We spent a total of three nights there and on our final morning, our friend took us to Plaza Bib-Rambla where we had Churros con chocolate. Best. Breakfast. Ever... The churros were light and fluffy - not like the ones I was used to from the Christmas market or the summer fair we have each year in Luxembourg. We had so many special moments and memories throughout the trip but all in all, I think Granada was our favourite city.

Stayed:
White Nest Hostel (Santisimo San Pedro, 4, Albayzin, Granada, Spain 18010)

Now, if you are mentally prepared for a whole load of photos, clock on "click to see more" to see just how crazy I went with snapping up photos of the Alhambra! Enjoy.
