MONOCHROME PRINTS

In my last post (click here), I mentioned how a lot of the time when I do not feel like making much of an effort but still want to look put together, I usually opt for an all-black look. It is a great and easy solution, yes, but after a while even I feel like tip-toeing a bit out of my comfort zone. It is in these moments where a coat with a loud print comes in handy. It can instantly transform an otherwise demure look into a statement stamping outfit.

La dernière fois (ici) j’ai expliqué que souvent quand je ne veux pas faire de gros efforts – mais je veux quand même offrir un look achevé! – je m’habille tout en noir.  Bien sûr, il s’agit d’une solution aussi facile que géniale, mais après un certain temps j’ai envie de quitter ma zone de confort.  Dans de tels moments un manteau léger imprimé peut devenir la pièce maîtresse de ma tenue.  Tout d’un coup un look discret devient l’affirmation de mon identité.

There are some days when I head into town when I feel like rolling straight out of bed and rolling straight onto the bus so for these days when I really do not feel like making much of an effort I turn to an all-black look. This is the kind of outfit you can find me in on a Saturday morning, during the week at work or on the 3h train journey between Luxembourg and Brussels. I would of course change up the accessories depending on what environment/setting I am in: for work I would usually wear a light-weight scarf to cover up more of my chest or for a make-shift pillow for napping on the train. Here, however, I decided to throw on my Topshop eagle necklace for my day in town.

Quelquefois quand je vais en ville je veux tout simplement sauter du lit et monter dans le bus sans penser trop à ce que je vais mettre.  Ces jours-là je m’habille tout en noir.  C’est le look que je préfère le samedi matin, ou pendant la semaine au bureau, ou pour le trajet en train entre Bruxelles et Luxembourg.  Bien sûr, j’ajoute des accessoires selon le cas: au bureau je mets un foulard autour du cou, et dans le train le même foulard peut servir comme oreiller improvisé.  Mais cette fois, pour une sortie en ville, j'ai porté mon collier à l’aigle de Topshop.

EVENING LOOK

I am not particularly big on going out and so when I planned to meet a friend for drinks last weekend - by friend I mean Christine and by Christine I mean my conjoined twin... - I decided to go for a casual look. Although, I have to admit that this outfit was put together in a total panic because I was running late to meet her. My go-to combination for situations like this is black jeans, my heeled Chelsea boots from H&M and a dark top with a leather jacket thrown over everything. 

Les sorties nocturnes ne m’attirent pas tellement, mais le weekend dernier je voulais rencontrer une amie: et par "amie" je veux dire Christine, mon âme jumelle!  Je voulais un look décontracté, mais je dois admettre que j’ai choisi ces fringues à la dernière minute car j’étais déjà en retard.  Dans de tels moments ma solution de réserve consiste d’un jean noir, de mes bottes Chelsea à talons (achetées chez H&M) et d’ un top d’une couleur foncée – et pour  achever mon look je me mets une veste en cuir.

RUE NOTRE-DAME

It has been so chilly lately that wearing a skirt seems out of the question. If, however, you are starting to get a bit sick of wearing trousers or slipping into tights before pulling leggings on in order to be just a little bit more cosy, then I would highly suggesting braving it in a skirt but piling up with layers on top. Underneath this incredibly cosy jumper I am actually wearing two more layers. What I love about this skirt, though, is that it seems to envelop the tartan, tweed and geometric print trends without being too audacious.

C'était si froid ces derniers jours que de porter une jupe semble fou. Si vous commencez à avoir un peu marre de porter des collants sous des leggings pour être un peu plus confortable, alors je vous propose de porter une jupe mais de porter un sweat comme celui-ci de Topshop pour être chaud - sous ce sweat je portais actuellement deux tops. Ce que j'aime de cette jupe c'est qu'elle semble regrouper les tendances de tartan, tweed et d'imprimés géométriques sans être trop over-the-top.
